Behind on Book Tags!

More like behind on EVERYTHING to be honest. I had no idea just how much time book blogging consumed when I started out on this adventure a couple of months ago. Now don’t get me wrong, it has been absolutely FANTASTIC, and I can’t even believe the number of amazing experiences I’ve had since I started, or the number of amazing people I’ve met! But I am still struggling to find the balance between blogging, reading, writing, the full-time muggle job, and actual life.

I sincerely want to thank all of you who have tagged me to participate in blogger awards and book tags recently, it truly means so much to me that you’re thinking of me and my blog, and I’m so sorry that I’m behind and haven’t been able to participate in those as much as I want to. I’ve been prioritizing reading all of your blog posts everyday, and commenting on them when I have something that I feel will contribute to the conversation, over doing the book tags for now. I hope to be able to do it all one of these days, but I’m not there just yet.

I love chatting with you all here and on Instagram and Twitter. It’s so amazing to be part of this book loving community, and I hope to be a part of it for life!

Do any of you have advice on how you balance your blogging to-do lists with everything else going on in your lives? I’d love to hear how you do it!

I am in the same boat! I just started blogging with my friend who has been doing it for a couple years and it definitely takes up a lot of time….but I love it! It’s so worth it when you find new books and meet new people!

Most definitely. I have LOVED it so, so much. I just feel bad when I don’t get to those book tags.

  2. I know how you feel! I can barely even read other people’s posts because of homework and reading deadlines! It’s hard to do tags and awards or everything when you’re so busy!

Yes, exactly! I always really appreciate that people are thinking about me and my blog, and I don’t want anyone to ever think that I don’t.

      1. Definitely! I also try to read others’ blog posts, which are really great, but it’s so hard to read each one and comment. I have to skim or not read because of time! And same with tags and awards too! I love that you’re thinking of me, but time sometimes doesn’t allow me to do the tag right away! 😉

OMG, I’ve seen how many things you’ve been tagged in (which SUPER YAY) but I can see where the backlog would come in. D: Maybe some extra wine is needed? 😄 What I do for me is find a time on a day where I don’t have a bunch going on and just write up a tonnnnnn of content and then schedule it for that. And if that doesn’t work, I just cry. 😄 No, I try to set aside a few times a week to focus just on the content and then worry about the other stuff on the daily basis. It’s a hard juggle, though, and I’m still muddling my way through it. You’ve done a fantastic job, though, Krysti! ❤

Hahaha. Super THANK YOU! And you’re right. More wine is definitely in order. 🙂 LOL. Excellent suggestions. I just need to find a those days with less craziness going on and take advantage when they happen. Thanks, Mandy!!! 🙂

I love tags and awards but I am horrible at keeping up with them! They just keep piling up at the bottom of my to do list.. I think I’m just not going to do all of them, just the ones I like doing most and work from there.

I think I may have to take a mini-book tag break for a minute until I can get on top of everything. I just don’t want people to think that I don’t appreciate them or want to interact with them.

    1. I feel your struggle and as we talked about once, maybe a couple more extra hours in a day would make a difference… It’s just really challenging to find the time to do everything we want to!
Reading and blogging make for a big portion of my daily routine, but there’s always so much going on that I can barely manage even those.
Maybe get a planner? Schedule specific times for specific things? Like, read for one hour everyday at 7pm. Also, audiobooks save a lot of time as you can take care of chores, errands and other stuff while you listen to them.
I hope these are helpful 😊

It definitely is. I’m not sure if there are actually enough hours to do it all in! So I’ll just have to prioritize and go from there. I’m doing the planner on a basic level and audiobooking like crazy. But I’m just planning which posts im doing on which days and a reading schedule. I need to dial it in more to specific times like you suggested. I’ll try that when I put together my schedule on Sunday. Thanks, Sophie!

  6. I definitely didn’t see book blogging taking up as much time as it does so I totally get where you’re coming from! When I get a spare minute, I like to figure out the outline of as many posts as possible and then go back to them a few times before doing a final edit. That way I can spend entire days working on life things and not worry too much about having nothing ready to post! A lot of my posts are written weeks in advance because I know there will be days when I can’t devote any time to blogging and need to have something I’ve actually worked on ready to go up. Hope that helps!

Thanks, Maxine! Great advice. I’m writing down everything you guys are sending me and trying to figure out a schedule that will work for me. I LOVE blogging, but it is a lot of work. Especially when you have to read actual books to blog about. LOL.

      1. Haha, reading actual books is the hardest part for me right now. I’d love to hear what kind of schedule you end up putting together. Maybe I’ll get some new organizational tips for blogging 🙂

My hardest thing is that I’m actually trying to write a book too, so all of it together is just madness. LOL! I will let you know if I come up with anything brilliant.

I think time management is the hardest thing there is because sometimes you just want to do this and that in an instant. And I seriously feel your struggle. Being a student is hard. I haven’t posted in my own blog in a while too. But scheduling a blog post helps a lot though. And yes, having a planner helps a lot too. 🙂 I wish there’s a day or week where we do nothing but read and blog and repeat. 😀

Exactly! If we could just make that one day happen, I’d be in great shape! I need a time turner! I think that’s the only real answer.

There is no miracle here… I’ve been blogging for more than a year and I’m still missing posts, juggling with it all, trying to be everywhere at the same time!
Well, I decided to write most reviews on weekends, esp in the morning, and have a couple of hours to visit blogs before setting time aside for books. If all my posts are ready for the week, I try to go online to comment on posts for an hour every day but there’s always something happening that prevents it from happening the way I want it to!

That’s definitely how I feel. I’ve had one weekend where I was able to do that so far, and it was GLORIOUS! At least we’ve got a holiday weekend this week, so fingers crossed we’ll have a repeat!

  11. I don’t get tagged in loads of stuff, but I always spot tags I want to do – and just never get around to it! I think it can be hard to do a tag when there’s so much other stuff to post about (e.g. seasonal posts that have to go up, or reviews) that could be seen as taking priority.

    1. YAandWine says:

Exactly. My ARC reviews definitely take priority for me. Maybe after I’m all caught up on those though, I’ll have more time. 😅😅😅

Don’t worry: I have over 100 tags I haven’t done! My NY res was to catch up on them…but I usually only have time to read, post a review, blog, and go on Twitter. Some of those tags take forever to do!
So I’m in your boat…I used to be really good about it and then I got overwhelmed.

Yeah, same. I’ve basically given up at this point. But my life should calm down after June, so maybe I’ll be better after that. 🤷‍♀️
