Highlights from the Brendan Reichs and James Dashner event

So, first of all, to Brendan and James, I apologize for posting your epic YA Author Dance-Off on social media…and again in this post. BUT, those sweet moves deserve to be shared with the world.

Now, if the rest of you ever get the opportunity to see these two on a panel, I HIGHLY recommend it. I was laughing so hard, I had literal tears. And I’m not even talking about the dance-off portion of the evening.

I hear rumor that they will be reunited at YALLWEST this year. So all of you lucky duckies who will be attending, definitely make sure to attend that panel. They do not disappoint.

The event last night was moderated by Ally Condie, the wonderful author of the Matched series. Ally is really funny herself and made the night even that much more fun for all of us fans.

Reichs and Dashner discussed topics like what Hogwarts House they belong to (Ravenclaw for both, even if they haven’t embraced their inner-eagle yet), what projects they’re working on (Book Two of Nemesis for Reichs and a new adult horror novel for Dashner), and they’re most mortifying fanboy experiences (where THEY were the fanboys). Also, something Maze Runner fans will be thrilled to know if they don’t already, filming of the next movie is underway. I for one CANNOT WAIT to see it when it hits theaters!

Not only is Reichs now an official dance-off champion, his new book Nemesis is truly fantastic. I enjoyed it so much and definitely recommend it for fans of mystery/thriller novels of any age. Check out my full review here!

I, like so many other people, adore The Maze Runner series, but I haven’t yet read Dasher’s The Mortality Doctrine series. I was so excited to pick this series up, and have it signed, and I can’t wait to read it next month!

There were a lot of amazing authors in town this week for a teen writer’s conference, and I was lucky enough to get to meet a few of them last night at the event like Marie Lu, Jay Asher, and Shannon Hale!

And now for the promised dance-off video…

Who are some of your favorite authors that you’ve gotten to meet? Have you read Nemesis? Did you love it as much as I did? Have you read The Mortality Doctrine series yet?

    1. Hahaha. It was so crazy! Those three were just sitting there chatting during the signing and NO ONE was even glancing their way. I could not believe no one knew who they were. You’re always welcome to send me books to have signed for you. 🙂

    1. Hahaha! I know. We are so spoiled here. It’s all because of our local indie book store.

  3. There…there were some serious dance moves. I’m very jealous. Although I was kind of feeling Dashner’s moves more? (I’M SO SORRY BRENDAN REICHS IF YOU ARE READING THIS SOMEWHERE IN THE BLOGSPEHRE.) Another epic event and I really need to get on these books…which is what I say every time I leave this blog.

    1. Hahaha! Reichs actually had some pretty sweet moves too. I just didn’t time my panning very well. I don’t think becoming a professional videographer is in my future. Thanks, Mandy! 🙂
