Among the Red Stars by Gwen C. Katz

Since debut author Gwen C. Katz helped me to come up with the idea for the #ARCstravaganza meme a couple months back when I was talking about having an ARC Extravaganza weekend on Twitter, I felt it was only fitting to feature her amazing novel Among the Red Stars as our first #ARCstravaganza book.

I won’t be posting my full review and interview with Gwen about Among the Red Stars until we get a little closer to the release date, but I will certainly tell you now that this was a five star read for me. I found it not only entertaining but highly inspirational! Check out this guest post with Gwen that discusses the INCREDIBLE, real life airwomen who inspired Among the Red Stars here!

About Among the Red Stars

Cover.jpgWorld War Two has shattered Valka’s homeland of Russia, and Valka is determined to help the effort. She knows her skills as a pilot rival the best of the men, so when an all-female aviation group forms, Valka is the first to sign up.

Flying has always meant freedom and exhilaration for Valka, but dropping bombs on German soldiers from a fragile canvas biplane is no joyride. The war is taking its toll on everyone, including the boy Valka grew up with, who is fighting for his life on the front lines.

As the war intensifies and those around her fall, Valka must decide how much she is willing to risk to defend the skies she once called home.

Inspired by the true story of the airwomen the Nazis called Night Witches, Gwen C. Katz weaves a tale of strength and sacrifice, learning to fight for yourself, and the perils of a world at war.

Sophie, how are you the sweetest person ever?! I would LOVE to have you participate of course, but truly no pressure. The life of a book blogger = insane, so I totally understand if you can’t do it. 🙂

I actually love the eARCs. They’re easier to get through, since I can have my phone read them out loud to me while I commute and then pick it back up when I get home. The physical ones are great too though, of course. 🙂

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to suddenly have a ton of physical books. I love physical books– but I don’t have the space to store them! It is just a better image to see someone drowning in physical books than a single Kindle.
I adore my Kindle. I’m traveling to Croatia for two weeks coming up and I’m stalking up on books to read while I’m gone. This includes The 5th Wave and subsequent novels. Obviously. 😉

This is true! And physical copies are SOOO much easier to take Bookstagram pics of. The eARCs are so tough, because you have to adjust the lighting and do so many filters for them to come out. That is so neat that you are going to Croatia! How fun! I can’t wait to hear all about that! 🙂
